From Brooklyn to Mayer: Gábor's Story

Gábor Oszter arrived in the US from Budapest in 1989 — the same day the Berlin Wall came down — and grew up learning how to build something from nothing on the streets of Brooklyn. Decades later, that same instinct is one of the reasons why Mayer exists in America at all: Gábor had the idea to bring Mayer syrups across the Atlantic, and today he leads the team that is the exclusive distributor of the Mayer brand in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

He recently sat down with the Hungarian Heritage Podcast's founder Christine Portnoy for an episode of "A Taste of Hungary," showing how Mayer's syrups and jams are naturally sourced and still made by hand-pressing, where to find them, and the company's mission to give back to animals along the way.
