90-Second Passion Fruit Spritzer with Sparkling Water

Ever wish your sparkling water did a little more?

Plain sparkling water does its job. It is cold, fizzy, and asks almost nothing of you. But on a hot afternoon, useful is not always the same as inviting.

This passion fruit spritzer takes about ninety seconds to make. Two tablespoons of Mayer Tropical Passion Fruit Syrup bring the bright, sweet-tart fruit flavor; sparkling water keeps it light; and a squeeze of lime gives the whole glass a clean finish.

There is no shaker, blender, or waiting involved. You build it directly in the glass you were already going to pour.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Mayer Tropical Passion Fruit Syrup

  • 8 oz chilled sparkling water

  • 1 fresh lime wedge

  • Ice

  • 1 orange slice, for garnish

How to Make a Passion Fruit Spritzer

  1. Fill a tall glass with ice.

  2. Pour the Mayer Tropical Passion Fruit Syrup over the ice.

  3. Top with chilled sparkling water and stir gently.

  4. Squeeze in the lime wedge.

  5. Garnish with an orange slice and serve immediately.

Why This Simple Combination Works

Passion fruit has enough sweet-tart intensity to remain distinctive after the sparkling water is added. The lime sharpens the fruit flavor, while the orange garnish contributes a fresh citrus aroma before the first sip.

The result is tropical without becoming heavy and refreshing without tasting like flavored water that has merely passed a piece of fruit on the way to the glass.

Can You Make It Ahead?

This spritzer is best assembled immediately before serving so the sparkling water stays lively and the ice does not dilute the drink.

You can still chill the syrup and sparkling water and prepare the lime and orange in advance. When it is time to serve, building each glass takes little more than a minute.

Some drinks create an occasion by being elaborate. This one does it by making an ordinary glass of sparkling water feel like something you chose on purpose.
